The Stardust Revolution

2012, Jacob Berkowitz

I read a few chapters, did not finish. One of many books about exoplanets that implies "shirtsleeve" planets are within reach. Few numerical or actionable details.

Page 190 tells about "diffuse interstellar bands" (DIB ), wide lines in the spectrum that do not correspond to the narrow absorption patterns of elements in cold interstellar gas. In July 2015, J.P. Meier and his team at the University of Basel proved that two of these lines are due to excited states of ionized C60 buckyballs; perhaps more of the lines are due to large stable carbon structures.

When I read about DIB, I thought that "broad" might mean "black body" broad, and the author implied "solids" - nope. Back this goes to the Beaverton library.
